Evaluating Event Archiver ®
You can download a 30-day trial version of Event Archiver that
allows you to archive event logs from up to 50 servers. If you wish to purchase
licenses for Event Archiver, you can acquire a registration key from Dorian
Software Creations to unlock your trial version.
Before You Install
1.) If you are installing Event Archiver to a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 system,
the program is dependent on version 2.1 or greater of the Microsoft Data Access
Components (MDAC 2.1).
Note: Windows 2000 does not require an MDAC installation, as MDAC 2.5 is built
into the OS.
2.) The Event Archiver Service requires a user account with domain admin rights
(or local administrator rights, if installing to a single, non-domain machine).
If you do not already have such a service account defined in your organization,
please create one and supply it to Event Archiver when prompted.
3.) When operating the Event Archiver Control Panel, the user account you are
logged in as should have domain administrator rights in the domain(s) that you
manage (or local administrator rights in a single computer installation). Event
Archiver performs many security intensive tasks, such as modifying access control
lists on file shares, so this level of rights is required.
